Question #1 - What attracted you to the IHM Sisters? 

The IHMs were vibrant in their joy; they radiated it.  They were fun to be around and they enjoyed each other’s company. One Saturday, I was waiting in the convent for my Dad to pick me up after a basketball game.  The Sisters were preparing lunch in the kitchen and their laughter filled the house! 

As persons and students, the Sisters held us to a standard of excellence.  They themselves were always prepared.  They were caring, creative teachers, and they always had a word of encouragement, a prayer, an extra something for whomever needed it. For example, we had a big family.  I remember Sister telling me to tell my mother:  “No need to send in milk money this week.”  I try to be like those happy, selfless Sisters. 

Question #2 - What part of religious life brings you the most joy? 

I often experience God’s presence in community and in my ministry of teaching.  Wherever I have gone, Gid has blessed me with wonderful community and the Sisters have helped me to grow and to know Gid more deeply.  I am also inspired by my students and colleagues.  Their openness to God and to the world broaden my perspective. 

Question #3 - Who is your favorite saint, and why?   

I love the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph.  I also have devotion to St Jude, my patron; St. Edith Stein, my mentor; and most recently, St. Carlos Acutis.   I love to read about the saints so my devotion is always growing. 

Question #4 - If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?   

I would tell my younger self to lighten up and not worry so much.  God is in His heaven and I don’t have to worry.
